Covenant Health ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER - Night Shift in Bangor, Maine

The starting rate for this position is:$38.70/hr

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Quality and Clinical and the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager coordinates the clinical operations of the department and oversees patient care functions as approved by the State of Maine Board of Nursing and St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures. Direct supervision will be provided by the Clinical Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Clinical Manager in the achievement of organizational and department-specific goals and objectives. This position works in a supportive manner to the Manager with additional leadership responsibilities that are broader in nature and extend beyond the oversight and supervision provided during a single shift. The position will provide back-up clinical support in the absence of the Manager.

Position Specific Competencies:

  • Completes patient rounds every shift

  • Manages staff assignments appropriately with consideration for patient acuity and staff skill mix. Assigns breaks according to

  • the needs of the unit.

  • Initiates and leads unit huddles with staff each shift

  • Demonstrates the use of AIDET and hourly rounding and reinforces with staff

  • Performs audits as assigned

  • Proactively manages noise and cleanliness on the unit

  • Maintains awareness of disaster and emergency plans

  • Receives report from outgoing charge nurse and gives report to oncoming charge nurse

  • Completes weekly narcotic count in Pyxis and daily review of narcotic administration reports

  • Attends daily multi-disciplinary rounds and takes an active leadership role in discharge planning.

Job Requirements:

Education: Four year college (Bachelor’s Degree) Preferred

Experience: 1 – 3 years (minimum of 2 yrs exp)

Licensure: Current State of Maine RN License

Certifications: ACLS & BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire, PALS preferred
