Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.
Azure Data SQL team is hiring for a Software Engineer II, who can help shape and build the next generation of technologies to create a state-of-the-art database that supports the next wave of cloud-native modern applications. You will collaborate with our database experts and solve complex problems to improve SQL Server Engine. You would be responsible for developing and delivering features that enable developers to create data-centric applications on Azure SQL Database and SQL Server.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities :
• Developing and delivering features that enable developers to build data-centric applications on Azure SQL Database and SQL Server.
• Modernizing Azure SQL DB with new APIs for data retrieval.
• Building the next set of application developer features for SQL Server such as GraphQL and new T-SQL capabilities.
• Design, implement, test, and ship features that meet customer needs and business goals.
• Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and team discussions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Troubleshooting live site issues as part of both product development and live site rotations. Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

Required/Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
- Technical problem solving and debugging skills
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Design and development experience in database engines, schema-less data indexing and search technologies, performance tuning and operating system internals.
Understanding of, or prior experience working on System Internals of Database Engines or Operating System, Compilers or similar core systems
Understanding of, or prior experience working on API technologies, like GraphQL and REST
Experience with cloud computing, Azure, or a similar platform.
