MaxLinear Senior Manager Analog Design in Bangalore, India
The High Performance Analog (HPA) division at MaxLinear is involved in all aspects of Power Management and Serial Transceiver IC development with specific focus on system architecture and simulations, product definition, transistor level IC design, layout & tape-out, post silicon validation, initial release to alpha customers, and high level technical support for the Apps team. The HPA team is comprised of Analog IC Design Engineers and Systems Engineers who focus on Power and Interface products. The leader of this team will be responsible for the day to day IC Design & Systems activities by guiding the team on all technical aspects and is expected to be very hands-on, collaborate with the San Jose team in ensuring products meet the specifications, timelines, quality, testability and product release. This leader will be complete owner, contributing to the design, development, and release to market of world leading power management & interface products in a dynamic and growing environment. You will work on multiple products simultaneously and is expected to guide different teams on all technical aspects, mentor and grow the engineering team, while expanding the team as needed.
Extensive knowledge of Analog IC Design with strong focus in power management IC design
Strong knowledge in DC-DC power conversion concepts, architectures, and control loop theory
Full ownership of the Systems Requirements Document (SRD) from inception to sign off
System level simulations of architectures using tools such as Simplis
Experience in designing power management ICs in a monolithic, BCD process
Must have strong transistor level analog design skills and must be very detail oriented
Develop and implement innovative, reliable circuit solutions to solve technical challenges
Understanding of parasitic effects and substrate noise due to high current switching in ICs
Good understanding of semiconductor devices, device cross sections and process technologies
Ability to contribute to technology development aspects for power and serial transceivers
Understand ESD implications and protection methods for power and serial transceiver ICs
Able to guide the PCB team for designing EVKs for the ICs, understand and implement PCB parasitics into the IC level simulations to model application level scenarios
Good verbal and written communication skills
Hands on lab experience in IC validation
Strong technical and analytical skills
Ramp up quickly in new technical areas as we grow
Ability to see the birds eye view of all the ongoing programs, keep them on track while able to do a deep dive on technical aspects
Experience in complete product development flow from system design, product definition, IC design, IC validation, and initial release to customers in power management DC-DC conversion
Experience with and not limited to voltage mode, current mode, constant on time architectures and their associated compensation schemes
Experience in behavioral simulations with Simplis and circuit simulation using Cadence Tools
Understands IC layout and parasitics caused by layout and guides layout team for generating first pass, quality IC layouts
Work with IC layout team to ensure layout schedule is met
Able to estimate design schedules and optimal resource allocation for best throughput
Understands and implements best design practices, design reviews, drives detail-oriented design methods and clear documentation at every step
Demonstrated ability to lead a medium sized engineering team while being hands-on and able to see the larger picture, communicate to the upper management with full clarity
Must be able to articulate problems, outline the solutions, its pros and cons with utmost clarity and supporting documentation with the necessary breadth and depth throughout all levels of the organization
Ability to mentor, train and grow the team to deliver high quality ICs to market
Experience in designing and releasing power management ICs for servers, telecom, and networking applications such as PMICs, Point-of-Loads (POLs), Multiphase Controllers, Smart Power Stages (SPS/DRMOS), LDOs, Charge Pumps, etc. will be a major plus
BS / MS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related domain +15 years of experience
