Overview

Cigna International Health is initiating a project to develop a cutting-edge global healthcare policy administration platform to bolster the expansion of our health businesses across the globe. We’re actively seeking accomplished leaders to champion our vision and steer us towards successful Policy Administration and Claims Management core product (“Policy Admin Software” or “PAS”) strategy execution.

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Software Product Owner to lead the creation and success of the new global platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing the product vision by aligning business goals, user requirements and technical capabilities. They will guide the product development process, ensuring alignment with market and regulatory demands, to deliver a high-quality global software solution.

Responsibilities

  • Global Product Ownership and Leadership:

  • Serve as the internal voice of the customer, internal and external, for the core of the global platform.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for defining, prioritizing, and delivering product features and enhancements in alignment with the Policy Admin software roadmap.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage software Product Owners (and indirectly their Scrum teams), fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence around the software product.

  • Market Analysis & Strategy: Conduct market analysis, competitive research, and gather customer feedback to continuously enhance and evolve the products to meet business demands.

  • Requirement Gathering:

  • Defines system features and participates in validation with country Product Owners

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to gather and define product requirements, ensuring clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team.

  • Contribute to Cigna’s operational excellence by driving Product Owners to constantly seek to improve end-customers’ and internal users’ experience on the platform

  • Prioritization & Roadmapping:

  • Responsible for the scope of work that the Agile Release Train (ART) will complete, and the vision and roadmap for the Agile Release Train (ART).

  • Manage the product backlog, prioritize features, and create a clear product roadmap, considering market trends, customer feedback, and business goals.

  • Development Team Collaboration: Work closely with software development teams (engineers, designers, testers) to ensure the timely and quality delivery of software products. Provide guidance, answer queries, and facilitate a structured development process.

  • Quality Assurance & User Experience:

  • Ensure the delivered products meet high-quality standards, conduct regular reviews, and maintain a focus on providing an exceptional user experience.

  • Apply Agile management values to empower teams and make them as self-managing as possible

  • Communication & Reporting:

  • Maintain clear and constant communication with stakeholders, reporting on progress, risks, and upcoming features to various teams and management.

  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience (7+ years) as a Technical Product Owner or similar role in commercial software product development.

  • Scrum development system oversight: monitor and track progress of scrum based development teams as per prioritization

  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and drive consensus.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.), technical concepts, and the software development lifecycle.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret market trends, user feedback, and prioritize features based on business value.

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related fields.

  • Domain expertise: Strong undertsanding of Health Insurance domain with experience in managing and developing Claims and policy administration platforms. Exposure to both Individual and Group health plans a distinct advantage.

  • Global and regulatory landscapes: Strong understanding and experience of working practices across multiple geographies. Experienced with regional nuances such as tax rules, regulatory interfaces, multi-currency, multi-language etc

  • The incumbent owns the development and execution of business segment/corporate department strategy.

  • Strategically leads a major functional area within a business segment or a minor corporate department.

  • Translates objectives into strategic plans with a medium- to long-term view.
