Job description

Job Summary

We are actively seeking a proactive and skilled Automation Engineer/ Architect specializing in Python and additional scripting languages and has experience in SQL , Ansible / Terraform IaaS development skillset to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for centralizing diversified automations across platforms into a streamlined, automated framework using Python, Ansible & Google Cloud. Your responsibilities will also include performance tuning, logging, and ensuring scalability. This role requires close collaboration with the ITSM Team, Observability / monitoring Team, and Infrastructure teams to understand existing functionalities and automate them in the newer framework. The shift timings will need to overlap with EST (1:30pm / 11pm IST)

This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in backend development and API integration and IaaS automation who are eager to leverage their technical expertise in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Nice to have experience in observability platforms and tools like Datadog & Solarwinds . Core experience/responsibilities

  • API Integration & Backend Development

  • 8+ of hands-on experience with Python as the primary skill and Other Scripting languages (Shell, PowerShell, JavaScript) as a complementary skill.

  • 5+ years proficiency in using Ansible for automation, including playbook development and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in exposing backend systems over RESTful APIs and JSON format to interact with cloud service providers.

  • 5+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.

  • Proficiency in working with relational and non-relational databases like Bigquery , MS SQL, PostgreSQL.

  • Proven experience in developing scalable microservices and API gateways.

  • Experience in tools like Git, Jenkins, and Artifactory repositories.

  • Integrate APIs with diversified Applications (ServiceNow, BigQuery, Datadog, Solarwinds etc) to enhance functionality and streamline processes.

  • Create large-scale data processing pipelines and Data transformation/ETL activities

  • Utilize Ansible to automate deployment processes, configuration management, and orchestration of complex workflows

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to build and implement scalable solutions.

  • Provide assistance to the DevOps team to develop, configure and administer overall DevOps and IT automation solutions.

  • Develop services tailored to the needs of UI developers.

  • Debug and address performance issues to ensure optimal system functionality.

  • Design and code with security considerations, anticipating and mitigating potential risks.

  • Develop unit tests with a test-driven mindset to ensure code quality.

  • Conduct peer/code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality.

  • Expertise in at least one popular Python framework (like Django, Flask or Pyramid)

  • Experience with server-oriented architectures and web platform applications, with the ability to define and integrate with APIs and REST services.

  • Design and Implementation

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of high-performance, scalable systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and are cost-effective.

  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, and architecture blueprints.

  • Drive technical design discussions, considering trade-offs to support business value, scalability, and delivery timelines.

  • Develop strategies to ensure system scalability, accommodating future growth and changes in workload.

  • Evaluate new technologies and tools, recommending their integration into the development process to enhance productivity and system capabilities.

  • Integrate security best practices into the design and implementation of systems, ensuring robust protection against threats.

Operational requirements

  • Requires to be “on-call” support outside of normal business hours (holidays, etc.) to address critical issues.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering production-grade systems in a team environment.

  • A motivated individual who learns quickly, takes pride in building new products, and can engage others to accelerate technical solutions.

  • Familiarity with implementation design patterns and performance challenges.

  • Experience in architectural governance and security review.

  • 5 years of experience working with agile scrum methodologies.

Nice to Have

  • ITIL certification(s) such as ITIL Foundation or higher.

  • Data Analytics and reporting capabilities.

  • Experience with Incident Management Tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira Service Management.

  • Experience in Observability Platform Tools such as Datadog, Solarwinds

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
