Job Description:
Job Objective:
Leads a team of resources to implement and support ETL technical deliverables using tools like Talend. Provides technical guidance and feedback to project teams.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
Development and Implementation:
Plans and leads the implementation of ETL technical deliverables. Designs, develops, and tests new technical solutions, implementations, upgrades, and enhancements to support business requirements according to project specifications. Identifies opportunities for business process and system improvements/optimization and communicates technical solutions to project team members. Works with IT management to develop solutions for critical incidents and system needs. Implements change orders as needed. Works with a project team to create prototypes, integrate, test, install and deploy new systems.
Project Planning:
Monitors and tracks completion of project tasks and deadlines. Proposes appropriate resource and staff allocation. Communicates results and project status to IT management, clients, and users. Reports project schedule, scope and deliverable risks and any unexpected events to IT management.
Technical Oversight:
Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. Supervises the work of junior developers on project work.
Testing:
Conducts and certifies testing of proposed and implemented solutions including usability, integration, performance, operations, recovery, and user acceptance tests.
Quality Assurance:
Monitors and tracks the implementation of ETL Development policies and procedures, technical standards, methods, and priority setting tools, quality control procedures and internal group standards. Reviews findings with IT management and makes recommendations for improvements. Maintains client relationships and conforms to all established departmental standards.
Transitions ownership of new and updated systems to clients and users. Creates documentation and conducts training as required.
Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s in computer science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering.
Skills:
• Demonstrated track record of leading project teams of IT professionals.
• Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to support a changing environment.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to quickly understand and optimally utilize technologies.
• Working knowledge of relational data structures / models / relationships including dimensional data models
• Translates business concepts to technical implementations to drive alignment and decision making.
• Works on geographically dispersed team embracing agile strategies.
• Extensive knowledge on Data warehousing concepts.
• Experienced in developing dimensional data models.
• A good team player who can collaborate and work closely with multiple functional groups.
• Ability to multi-task and work under stringent timelines within a strong, high energy team environment.
• Actively participate in data integration (ETL) activities to support data communication between AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Redshift and other Line of business applications.
• Develop data extract, transformations, and load routines with Talend including importing data from files, moving data from one database platform to another.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, as well as skills in SQL query design and development.
• Conduct system tests and root cause analysis, troubleshoot business issues and correct database defects, respond quickly to bug fixes and enhancement requests.
• Write ad-hoc queries to verify ETL activities to debug one-off issues.
• Take ownership of the development, unit-testing, code migration, and documentation.
