Sr. Manager Engineering – ETO and Project Management

Position : Manager Engineering – IR Engineered Solutions

Location : Bangalore

Reporting : Engineering Director - IRETC

Nature of work : Team leader

Purpose:

Ingersoll Rand is a world leader in flow technologies and our products are used in mission critical applications and across various industries across the world. Manager Engineering IR Engineered Solutions is a key position within IRETC Engineering to support different business lines of PFT EMEIA P&L. This position will be leading team of 12-20 expert engineers executing medium and high complex engineered to order projects supporting multiple products and locations with EMEIA region. Engineered Solutions support involves executing projects from Pre-Order support, customer order entry to full engineering release, Project Documentation etc. for Vacuum Pumps, Low Pressure Blowers, Loading Arms, Highly engineered products for specific markets like Oil and Gas, Food and Beverages, Paper and Pulp, Power generation, etc. This position also will be responsible for i2V and LCE project support from IRETC for locations within IR Engineered Solutions group.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead team of engineering professionals delivering complex ETO projects.

  • Develop project plans for each project, get agreement of project partners and deliver engineering deliverable with full ownership. Deliver projects meeting high OTD and FPY.

  • Work with engineering team leaders and product managers of various Ingersoll Rand locations in EMEIA to identify IRETC support opportunities and build project pipelines.

  • Work with global business partners, explore new business opportunities and help IRETC Grow.

  • Own and effectively manage IDM Swim Lane for successful project delivery

  • Recruit, train and retain the best talents to deliver high quality projects. Develop and maintain a highly engaged team culture.

  • Elevate capability of Engineered to Oreder (ETO) engineering teams to take end-to-end ownership of complex ETO projects.

  • Other assignments commensurate with individual’s ability and experience, as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in engineering complex ETO (Engineered to Order) industrial products using high end specifications and code compliance. 5+ years of experience required.

  • Interpreting customer requirements and converting into engineering and product requirements.

  • 3+ years of experience in leading NPD and Value Engineering projects.

  • 5+ years of experience in leading a team of expert engineers (10+ member team) delivering critical engineering projects.

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills using world class processes.

Desired Skills Requirements:

  • Strong project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural team environment and influence others.

  • Demonstrated ability to estimate product cost during pre-bid stage and tracking cost until project completion.

  • Project management certification from PMI or equivalent institutes.

  • Experience in manufacturing process and applying the knowledge in product development and product life cycle engineering.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to inspire, persuade and influence others

  • Good presentation skills. Fluent in written and spoken English. Ability to speak any other European language will be added advantage.

  • Willingness to travel to EMEIA locations for short durations as and when required.

  • Commercial awareness – material and direct cost focus and understanding

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position :

  • BTech / MTech in any discipline from a recognized University

  • 8-15 years’ experience in product development, Design and Development
