This company, based in the Baltimore, Maryland area, offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. If you have the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close, you will be preferred for this position. In this role, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. You might be our ideal candidate, if you have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.

What you get to do every day

• Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

• Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

• Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

• In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

• Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

• Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

• Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

• Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

• Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested

• Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

• Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process

• Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

• Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting

  Requirements - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

• Proficient in ERP systems

• Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

• The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

• 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

• Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• Month end closings experience

• Deep understanding of general ledger

• Bank Account Reconciliation experience

• Account reconciliation experience

• Ability to meet deadlines

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

• Excellent attention to detail
