Position Summary :

The Hopkins USA Senior Medical Concierge reports to the Director and Manager of Hopkins USA and is responsible for the professional, efficient, and timely delivery of service to patients and clients requesting assistance through the Johns Hopkins USA office. This includes providing information and assistance with coordination of multiple appointments, linkage with hospital services, linkage to care management services, and facilitating travel, lodging and transportation, as well as provision of other institutional information as requested. In addition, the Senior Medical Concierge shares responsibility for facilitating appointments and support arrangements for the patients referred by the President’s Office, the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, and the Board of Trustees.

The Senior Medical Concierge will assist in the training of new employees and take responsibility for the more advanced and difficult cases and clients. This individual will manage over 100 open cases on a monthly basis. He/she will schedule over 65 patients a month and over 85 appointments per month. This individual will have a “book of business” consisting of direct referral sources to manage (i.e. State Department and Mayor Bloomberg’s Office).

The Senior Medical Concierge will participate in projects and new initiatives within Johns Hopkins USA. This individual will be the primary recipient of the referrals coming from the new Hopkins USA, Palm Beach office in Florida. He/she will expand the Medical Concierge role by providing direct patient coordination for targeted individuals. This individual will also be responsible for identifying potential donors.

Competencies :

A. Education:

B.A. or B.S. or equivalent work experience.

B. Knowledge:

Competence in the use of automated appointment scheduling and registration systems, data base software

Familiarity with medical terminology

Familiarity with JHMI facilities

C. Skills:

Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to cope with a demanding clientele and the ability to defuse situations of high emotion or conflict

Advanced organizational skills – ability to prioritize multiple activities and follow them to completion

D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:

None.

E. Work Experience:

Five years experience in a healthcare and/or multinational business setting with a strong focus on customer service.

F. Machines, Tools, Equipment:

Computer Programs (Word, Excel and Access)
