The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB)is currently seeking aSocial Media Specialist for the School of Dentistry. The School of Dentistry is seeking a Social Media Specialist to support, manage, and maintain robust online presence through social applications, the website, and other new media channels. The School of Dentistry is one of seven professional schools at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), an urban health, law, and human services campus. Exempt regular staff receive a generous PAID leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, 15 paid holidays, 3 personal leave, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school; and flexible work schedules and teleworking options (if applicable per job). *Primary Duties: * Serve as a multi-platform content developer to support, manage, and maintain robust online presence through social applications, the website, and other new media channels. * Assist in the development of social media strategy and guidelines for the School of Dentistry and, when applicable, UMB and update strategies and guidelines for new applications or media. Evaluate emerging social media channels and envision ways that the School/University could use them. * Develop and manage written and visual content for the School of Dentistry social media channels, the internal newsletter, as well as the website and other formats. * Create social media campaigns for diverse audiences including prospective and current students, alumni, donors, faculty, staff, media, friends, advocates, partners, supporters of the University/School, as well as serve as an online resource for potential patients in the Greater Baltimore and Montgomery County areas. * Track and analyze post and campaign efficacy to ensure goals and deadlines are met and that social media activities are clearly linked to desired outcomes. Monitor public mentions of the School of Dentistry across the social media platforms. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor’s degree in English, fine arts, marketing, communications or a related field. Experience:Two (2) years of related communications experience, preferably in managing social media marketing in a professional setting. Higher education experience preferred. Supervisory Experience:N/A Certification/Licensure:N/A Other:Strong editorial experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to follow style protocols, write accurately, and shoot photographs. Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Knowledge of Meta Business Suite, Constant Contact, and digital best practices. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively and accurately communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
