Robert Half has partnered with a client in the area to hire an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to oversee all aspects of revenue recognition and accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting principles, a keen eye for accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This role requires a deep understanding of revenue recognition standards, understanding contracts, excellent analytical skills, and the capability to provide guidance on complex revenue transactions.

What will you get to do on a daily basis?

  • Lead the revenue recognition process in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., ASC 606).

  • Review and analyze sales contracts, agreements, and other revenue-generating transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with sales, finance, and legal teams to evaluate and structure revenue arrangements, including multi-element arrangements, software licensing agreements, and service contracts.

  • Perform revenue calculations, allocations, and accruals, including revenue deferrals and recognition timing adjustments as necessary.

  • Conduct detailed revenue analysis and reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including revenue-related disclosures and footnotes, for internal and external reporting purposes.

  • Stay informed about changes in revenue recognition standards and regulations, assess the potential impact on the company, and implement necessary updates to accounting policies and procedures.

  • Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff on revenue recognition principles, policies, and procedures.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and assistance related to revenue accounting matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or related field

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in revenue accounting

  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Experience analyzing complex sales contracts and revenue arrangements, including software licensing agreements, subscription services, and professional services contracts.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
