Team or Function Overview

We are looking for a Senior Buyer, a team-oriented individual who has a strong understanding of standard purchasing and supply chain concepts, practices and procedures to lead the Indirect Purchasing division of our company.

Summary

The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing activities to mitigate supply risk and to achieve optimal/lowest total cost of ownership of raw materials or outsourced products to meet the needs of GAF.

Essential Duties

  • Negotiate with suppliers for execution of Supply Agreements that achieve lowest total system cost and which are in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Manage contractual commitments and supplier assessments, ensuring all purchases are consistent with quality and delivery requirements.

  • Coordinate with internal customers to implement supplier changes, as required; assist plant buyers and internal customers on sourcing related issues.

  • Analyze, develop and deliver timely cost information.

  • Assess suppliers and potential suppliers.

  • Manage vendor relationships and build effective partnerships.

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that are aligned with GAF business objectives.

  • Track supplier metrics, communicate supplier performance, and forecast requirements, as needed, ensuring all purchases consistent with quality and delivery requirements.

  • Update price models, as required.

  • Maintain sourcing database and metrics for reporting and communicating Procurement activities

  • Identify suppliers and prepare RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for product categories.

  • Complete bid evaluations.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in the field of supply chain, business, science or engineering

  • Minimum of five years procurement experience within industrial manufacturing and/or Business Management

  • Experience in use of ERP systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, or equivalent) and AMMS system (Maximo).

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Industrial manufacturing and/or Business Management experience preferred.

  • Required business travel up to 10%
