Responsible for providing professional nursing care according to specified physician orders and in conformance with established nursing techniques, procedures, standards and Medical Center administrative nursing policies.

Interviews and observes patients in order to assess needs, and to assist in developing semi-complex patient care plans.

Administers medications and assists physicians in administering treatments and diagnostic tests. Monitors intravenous therapeutic treatments.

Makes periodic patient rounds, takes vital signs and evaluates patient care provided by LPN’s, technicians, nursing assistants, etc.

Reports significant changes in patients’ condition or affect to appropriate nursing or physician professional. Assists with or implements corrective measures as directed during adverse patient developments.

Maintains current, accurate and complete records of nursing observation and care.

Responds to patient inquiries, complaints and routine service requests.

May explain and record discharge instructions to patients or their families in the absence of a higher level nursing professional.

Attends in-service training and continuing education programs.

Performs related nursing duties as assigned.

RN in the State of Maryland

BSN preferred, ADN required. BSN enrolled in 6 months, completion in 4 years.

CPR Required

AHA Healthcare Provider

Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed; Works in area that may require contact with aggressive and/or combative patients
