Johns Hopkins University Research Program Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Research Administration is seeking a Research Program Assistant who is needed to work across two research studies. Both studies examine romantic relationships among adolescent and adult women in Baltimore. Along with other members of the study team the research assistant will support day-to-day data collection for research study(ies), in support of the PI, postdoc, research or administrative staff. Work will be conducted online and/or in community-based sites to recruit young people into the study(ies), screen participants for eligibility, administer surveys, conduct qualitative interviews, and facilitate focus groups.

Work consists of running and writing both standard and non-standard reports and analyzing routine data. Research activities with individual participants are expected to take about 2 hours per person. The Research Program Assistant will also assist the research program coordinator with administrative duties as assigned in addition to attending team meetings.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Screen participants for eligibility according to the research protocol.

  • Schedule appointments with eligible participants.

  • Perform informed consent and standardized surveys with persons at community-based sites or online.

  • Co-facilitate focus group meetings with participants.

  • Follow all study IRB approved protocols and procedures.

  • Attend team meetings.

  • Support overall study coordination and implementation.

  • Communicate with Study Coordinator and Principal Investigator about all schedule changes and study related issues.

  • Contribute to manuscript preparation.

  • Other research related activities as assigned by study coordinator and/or PI.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.

  • Some college courses preferred.

  • Quantitative and/or qualitative research experience, study coordination experience, and interest in sexual health and violence against women among marginalized populations.

  • Prefer some related coursework or administrative experience.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Work, volunteer, and/or life experience working with adolescents and young adults in Baltimore.

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal/written communication skills and self-motivation is critical.

  • Strong organization and problem solving skills required.

  • Must be able to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Must be able to interact effectively with study participants and coworkers from diverse backgrounds.

Role/Level/Range: ACRO37.5/02/CB

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $18.50/hr (commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday hours 8:30 - 5:00

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
