Johns Hopkins University Research Program Assistant II in Baltimore, Maryland

We are looking for a bright and energetic Research Program Assistant II to join our research team at the Center for Substance Use and Infectious Disease Care Integration at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The research assistant, under the direction of the Senior Research Program Manager, will assist in day-to-day logistical and operational tasks for a variety of clinical trials and research protocols. Study-related tasks will involve interacting with individuals affected by substance use at various clinical and community-based sites throughout Baltimore City.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Work directly with target population to assist with study recruitment activities

  • Assist with participant screening and enrollment (including obtaining informed consent and conducting participant eligibility verification)

  • Assist with data collection activities, such as administering study surveys and questionnaires

  • Perform data entry and maintain data safety and security

  • Attend research team meetings and participate in providing study status updates

  • Assist with literature reviews

  • Follow established research protocols in accordance with good clinical practices (GCP)

  • Complete human subjects research and study-specific trainings as needed

  • Work with other research assistants and coordinators to ensure completion of all research related activities

  • Complete all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • High School diploma/GED required; BS preferred

  • Requires minimum of 2 years related experience. Additional education may substitute for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic Microsoft Office experience helpful

JHU Equivalency Formula: _ 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job._

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.00/hr (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
