Johns Hopkins University Research Program Assistant II in Baltimore, Maryland
The Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Research Program Assistant II will be responsible for recruitment, screening, data collection, and data entry for ongoing research projects.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Completescreeningprocess in community,over the phone, andclinicsettings, to identifypotentialparticipants.
Recruitandconsentpotential study participantsaccording to protocols’inclusion and exclusioncriteria; be knowledgeable of the protocols so thatstudyactivities are completedcorrectly.
Schedule participant’s appointments in multiple databases (JHU Clinical Research Management [CRMS], EPIC, ICTR, REDCap, Ripple and Outlook). Mail, email, and call/text to remind participants of their appointments according to SOP.
Ensureproperinformedconsent from eachstudyparticipant is obtainedprior to enteringstudy ensureproperstorageofconsent documentation in participants’researchrecords.
Datacollectionresponsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to,abstracting data from paper and electronicmedicalrecords, conducting baseline and follow-upinterviews using both qualitative and quantitative methodsoverthe phone or in person,andcompletinghome visits.
Datamanagementresponsibilities include inputting,organizing,editing, and verifying accuracy of data indatabases, specifically excel and REDCap.
Distribute and obtain completed vouchers for participant incentives.
Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed. Develop and modify case report forms as needed.
Complete additional training offered through the research center according to study protocol. Deliver interventions per protocol.
Process, transport, package and preparebiologicalmaterials for storage, testing, and shipping.
Completestatusupdatereportsaccurately and in a timelyfashion to inform the studycoordinator/supervisor. Participate in weeklystaffmeetings to report on screening,recruitment, and datacollectionprogressandresolveproblems. This includes both documentation and communication. Participate in inter-disciplinary meetings with investigator and care providers periodically.
Understand the importance and impact of dataintegrityregardinghonestreporting of sensitive and confidentialpatientinformation.
Adhere to guidelinesregarding the sensitivity and confidentialnature of patientinformation.
Exercisegoodjudgment, tact, andsensitivity at alltimes.
Work independently and under the directionof the studycoordinator to ensuresuccessfulcompletionof the clinicalresearchstudy.
Under supervision, perform Quality Assurance activities related to research protocols (including chart audits and periodic chart reviews).
Manage a citation database (Endnote) and assist with including references into manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
HighSchoolDiploma or GEDrequired.
Twoyears of relatedexperiencerequired. Additional educationmaysubstituteforexperience.
Experience in a clinical or clinical research environment preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, CRMS, EPIC, JHU ICTR Online, Ripple, and REDCap databases.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks, detail oriented, self-motivated, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
Ability to use personal computer.
Highly attentive to detail and deadlines.
Maintain high level of motivation for job functions with positive attitude.
Weekend and evenings availability.
Have own reliable transportation.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications :
- Willneed to completeIRB course work and maintain annually.

JHU Equivalency Formula: _ 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job._

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.00/hr (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
