Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland
The Department of Neurology is seeking a casual Research Assistant to support the Language Neuromodulation Lab for an NIH-funded project on the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in neurodegenerative disease, specifically PPA and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The project is devoted to the study of language intervention(s) and neuroplasticity in PPA and AD. We aim to understand the effectiveness of behavioral and neuromodulatory interventions, as well as the brain mechanisms they involve using neuroimaging (structural MRI, DTI, fMRI, resting state fMRI, and MR spectroscopy).
Specific duties & responsibilities
Contact potential participants, coordinate their record acquisition, perform language/cognitive evaluations and maintain and manage imaging databases.
Perform preprocessing of data in different imaging modalities including EEG data, perform cognitive/language assessments, statistical analyses, computerize experimental tasks, and develop coding for data analysis.
Conduct behavioral assessments for participants with language and cognitive deficits, maintain databases, learn to perform statistical analyses, present research at conferences, and assist in writing papers.
Will also be involved in evaluating participants in a range of standardized language and cognitive tasks, delivering a pre-determined speech and language training session, archiving language, cognitive and therapy results, maintaining patients’ files, and analyzing oral and written therapy data.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, tothe extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with people with EEG or MRI research are highly desirable.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate w/exp.)
