Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in coordination with other technicians, pharmacy technicians are responsible for a variety of duties to assist in the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution and delivery of medications, maintaining proper inventory levels, and keeping appropriate records and documentation. Requires knowledge of pharmacy work routines, procedures, materials and/or equivalent. Requires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names and aseptic technique. Requires IV admixture and chemo certification by the pharmacy department. Requires analytical ability to maintain records, measure drugs, and recognize common computer errors. Requires interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to obtain, verify and exchange information. Must be CPHT Certified through PTCB and have MD Registration.
