Equipment Services (Surgery)

Grade: NI

Job Duties:Reports to the Manager and is responsible primarily for planning and directing the daily activities of Equipment Specialists. Sets a positive example for the Equipment Specialists (e.g.: training, rounding, being proactive, and providing superior customer service). Provides daily supervision of the Equipment Specialists in his/her assigned OR. Has the authority to give verbal warnings to the Equipment Specialists for first-time, minor offenders. After the first verbal warning, the Team Leader must notify the Manager. At the Manager's discretion, Team Lead participates in performance reviews of his/her Equipment Specialists. Reviews the OR schedule on a daily basis to determine appropriate equipment needs. Performs regular checks on operating room equipment and accessories to ensure availability, cleanliness, and correct function. Ensures flexible scope cleaning and documentation are being followed and provides guidance and training where needed. Takes personal responsibility for problem equipment such as video towers, robots, and flexible scopes to minimize problems and downtime. Oversees documentation within the Perioperative Equipment Specialist team to include rounding checklists, scope processing, and the construction and auditing of emergency airway carts. Assists Manager with coordination and setup of the training schedule and competency exams. Ensures areas surrounding the ORs are organized and clutter-free. Provides prompt, courteous, customer support, including but not limited to the dependable diagnosis of equipment failures and malfunctions. This work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager.

Full Time (40 hours)

9:00am-5:30pm

Education;Work requires a high school diploma or GED. Successful completion of two years of college or technical school with emphasis in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Surgical Technology, or Anesthesia Technology preferred. Successful completion of at least 6 credit hours of healthcare related college courses per year

Licensure:Certification in surgical or anesthesia technology

Experience:Six years of experience with surgical and/or anesthesia procedures, instrumentation and equipment is preferred. Established knowledge base of equipment used in the operating rooms including personal computers is strongly preferred.

Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed
