Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Manufacturing Organization is seeking a Manager 2, Manufacturing Engineering to join the Operations Engineering Leadership Team.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will have functional management responsibilities for approximately 20 Manufacturing Process Engineers who support Final Product Assembly and Integration manufacturing cells. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will manage a team that performs, monitors, and improves assembly processes for electronics and mechanical manufacturing. Objectives will include: leading design for manufacturing and automation; ensuring processes, tools, equipment and work instructions are created and validated to achieve efficient assembly; and supporting assembly personnel in achieving production requirements. This team is also responsible for monitoring and improving process stability and target capability; proposing process improvements requiring investment; estimating program non-recurring/recurring tasks in support of requests for proposals; and managing the cost and schedule of investment projects and program tasks.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the process leader for electromechanical assembly methods. Support Manufacturing Process development, including all aspects of producibility, affordability, quality, technology roadmaps, and related activities.

  • Lead technical innovations that improve area operations. Develop process, equipment and tool advancements from business justification and demonstration of capability to production deployment and adoption.

  • Work with area management, subject matter experts, suppliers, etc. (as required) to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot and solve issues related to assembly.

  • Support the planning and coordination of capital equipment and process development projects including responsibility for achieving allocated financial budgets.

  • Manage personnel including supporting career development, employee engagement, time approval, staffing, yearly reviews, and all other related activities.

  • Provide oversight of direct report performance and their work on various projects for developing, or maintaining, assembly equipment and processes within the East Building Final Assembly Cells, providing superior overall customer satisfaction in all cases.

  • Brief upper management, project management, and customers as required on process technology, product issue resolution, personnel development plans and status, organization issues/progress, etc.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing team members to ensure clarity of quotations and deliverables as well as promote knowledge transfer.

The chosen candidate will be a well-organized, enthusiastic individual with strong interpersonal and written communication skills; a passion for people, innovation, and excellence; and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple disciplines to solve complex issues.

Basic Qualifications:

*Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience (or 7 years with a Master's degree), including experience in engineering

*At least 2 years of experience managing or leading people or projects

*Knowledge or experience in the quoting process for mechanical products

*Demonstrated intermediate experience with project management tools and methods such as Microsoft Project (or equivalent)

*Experience managing project schedules, earned value and budgetary spending

*Demonstrated intermediate skills using Microsoft Excel and Minitab for process data analysis

*Demonstrated intermediate experience using Microsoft PowerPoint as a tool for communicating data in a presentation forum

*The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Manufacturing engineering experience including process control and control plan development

*Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering area preferred

*Experience in a manufacturing facility where electromechanical assemblies are produced

*5 years of experience in the development of electronic products, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing processes

*Engineering and industry experience designing mechanical tooling for automated and manual assembly processes

*Six Sigma Black belt/Green belt certification from an accredited program

*Direct career experience working in a represented manufacturing workforce environment

Salary Range: $119,800 - $179,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
