Johns Hopkins University Laboratory Aide in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Laboratory Aide for The Cancer Genomics Laboratory at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center Department of Oncology in the Division of Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics. The lab studies cancer genomics, liquid biopsy approaches for detection of cancer, and early detection of cancer with the goal of translating research from bench to bedside. Will work under the supervision of a faculty investigator and laboratory staff and will be responsible for laboratory maintenance and planning experiments to support the ongoing projects in the lab. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with excellent work ethic and organizational skills. Active pursuit of a High School Diploma or graduation equivalent is required. This position is fully funded.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, stocks, and supplies.

  • Tracking and accessioning orders.

  • Managing supply and reagent stocks.

  • Following established procedures and protocols to support lab projects.

  • Recording data resulting from molecular biology experiments.

  • Communicating with lab members to coordinate work, share progress, and identify areas in need of troubleshooting.

  • Using various software applications, such as Excel spreadsheets, electronic mail, World Wide Web, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or test reports.

  • Participating in the organization and operation of the laboratory including performing general lab maintenance duties.

  • Maintaining excellent written records and electronic databases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.25 HRLY ($18,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
