Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has multiple openings for Integrated Product Team (IPT)-Sr. Principal Chief Engineer Leads to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. These positions will be located in Baltimore, MD, and placement will be commensurate with qualifications.

What You'll Get To Do:

This individual will lead a cross-discipline engineering team typically greater than 5 people for a low to medium risk project and interface with Engineering & Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance. The selected candidates will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The selected candidates are expected to be self-motivated, highly-organized, and detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases

  • Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts

  • Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership

  • Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts

  • Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing

  • Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements

  • Brief internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or STEM-related discipline with a minimum of 9 years related experience, or Master's Degree and a minimum of 7 years related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • U.S. Citizenship and a current/active Secret Clearance and be able to obtain approval of Special Program Access prior to start

  • Experience as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead or Test Program Manager

  • Leadership experience in an engineering or test team environment with demonstrated team building, organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Experience doing (or leading) design or test for Prime Mission Equipment (PME) hardware or design and development of test hardware in support of PME.

  • Experience working with Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects

  • Experience planning and managing cost, schedule, requirements compliance and technical execution for a hardware development project.

  • Experience with production test certification processes.

  • PMP certification a plus

  • Active and current Top Secret government clearance a plus

Salary Range: $127,000 - $190,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
