The Department of Mental Health in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is a vibrant , diverse community that brings together leading researchers and practitioners across multiple disciplines joined by their passion for understanding, preventing, and treating mental and behavioral health conditions . As the only department dedicated to mental and behavioral health situated in a school of public health in the U.S., we are dedicated to educating the next generation of public health workers and scientists to understand its importance an d to acquire the specific skills needed to ad vance public mental health domestically and internationally through research, practice, policy and advocacy .

The d epartment is seeking to recruit senior and junior faculty eager to contribute to and expand our mental health services and intervention research activities . We invite applications for one position at the rank of Full Professor ( with tenure ) in the Department of Mental Health as part of a multiple-hire process. Th is position will be full time (100% FTE) within a 12-month service period , with a start date as early as January 2025. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful applicant for this position will be expected to:

  1. Develop and maintain a research program with the potential for significant public health impact , including extramurally funded projects appropriate to career developmental stage . The ideal candidate will have an established track record of externally funded research or the strong potential to develop one. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise , skills and experience in one or more of the following content and methodological areas:

    Priority Content Areas for Mental Health Services Research

    a. Mental health of people with severe mental disorders

    b. Digital technologies , artificial intelligence , and applications to mental health systems and service s

    c. Mental health system, polic y , and workforce interventions in the local and / or global context

    d. Co-occurring mental health and other medical conditions

    e. Behavioral, s ocial and structural interventions to promote mental health and prevent suicide, mental disorders , or disability in the local and/ or global context

  • Priority Methodological A re as

    f. Implementation science

    g. Qualitative and/or mixed methods

    h. Advanced quantitative methods , including quasi-experimental and causal infe re nce methods

    i. C linical trial design and implementation

    j. Big data mining and analytics

    k. Community-based participatory re search

    1. Provide educational leadership including classroom teaching and student mentoring in one or more of the areas listed above, employing innovative pedagogy that encompasses increasing equity, diversity, inclusion, anti- racism and decolonization .

    2. Develop, maintain , and strengthen equitable and mutually beneficial partnerships with individuals and institutions locally and globally .

    3. Contribute to the department's mission, community, and culture through active participation in departmental, school and university activities, and through robust collaboration with other faculty members, staff, students, partners and community stakeholders.

    Faculty hired will benefit from a strong intellectual community within the School of Public Health and across the University , including the Schools of Medicine (in particular, the Department of Psychiatry) , Nursing, Education, Engineering and Arts and Sciences .   • App licants must have:

    1. A doctoral deg re e (MD , DO, PhD , DrPH, PsyD, or equivalent ) and re search or training inte re sts in re levant fields .
    1. A robust re search agenda and re c ord , and a re c ord of high-quality teaching and mentorship;
    1. Strong skills in communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams; and
