Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Executive Communications Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland

The Executive Communications Specialist will serve as a key part of the Communications team, working to tell the story of the organization and the people we serve through executive speechwriting and social media. Reporting to the Executive Communications Manager, and working closely with the CEO, the specialist will articulate the vision and ideas of the CEO and executive team, in engaging and creative ways, to a variety of key audiences. The specialist will also manage the CEO\'s social media channels, using the platforms as important tools to amplify her voice, public events, and earned media, as well as increase overall engagement with the organization. The work will cover topics ranging from refugee resettlement and protection for asylum seekers to climate migration and the economic benefits of being a nation that welcomes immigrants.

This position can be remote with occasional trips to Baltimore as needed.

DUTIES

Draft speeches and talking points for the President & CEO of Global Refuge that allow the CEO to effectively communicate about our work and impact to general, business, Global Refuge, and other audiences.

Create and execute a cross-platform social media strategy for the CEO that aligns with organizational priorities and leverages the CEO\'s profile and voice in strategic and creative ways.

Work closely with the organization\'s social media specialist to monitor and analyze social media metrics and listening, ensuring that all owned channels\' work is being used strategically.

Coordinate with colleagues in the communications team and across the organization to gather the most up-to-date information and impactful stories for use in CEO communications.

Spearhead required messagin preparation for all Global Refuge Board and President\'s Council meetings, in collaboration with the Chief of Staff.

Contribute to the creation and execution of an executive thought leadership strategy for the CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor\'s degree, in Communications, Public Relations, Integrated Marketing, Journalism, or related field, and three years of experience writing speeches and op-eds for a senior executive or principal (preferably with knowledge of the immigration and refugee space), or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to quickly learn an executive\'s voice and style and implement it across relevant communications channels.

Exceptional writing and editing skills, the ability to quickly learn about new topics and effectively communicate complex information in a clear, precise, and compelling way-experience using social media as a tool to further executive communications.

Demonstrated knowledge of online marketing communications strategies and tactics, digital trends, and technologies.

Impeccable work ethic and attention to detail. Self-starter and energetic; adept at working independently, as well as collaboratively.

Proven ability to manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines, including last-minute requests.

Commitment to Global Refuge\'s core values and an ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners; commitment to empowering refugees and migrants.
