M&T Bank Environmental Asset Manager I in Baltimore, Maryland

Overview:

Asset Manager I will support the post-financing life cycle of Project Finance Renewable Energy Tax Credit Investments. Responsible for collection of portfolio reporting and monitoring an assigned portfolio of Renewable Energy Tax Credit investments made by the Environmental Finance (Department) of Community Banking (Division).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure collection of required reporting for the Project Finance Renewable Energy Tax Equity Investments portfolio. Track within asset management system and follow up with customer contacts as appropriate.

  • Assist manager with internal bank reporting requirements.

  • Co-manage project compliance of Partnership Agreements, Revenue Contracts, Back Leverage financial covenants and regulatory obligations, as applicable, for assigned portfolio.

  • Co-manage all aspects of the Project Dashboard for assigned portfolio including memorializing key decisions.

  • Review materials and present identified trends, deviations, and drivers to manager or assigned Asset Manager II and assist with Sponsor and Operator interaction as needed to understand resolution and corrective action plan.

  • Assist with the preparation of meeting memos, memos to file, credit modification memos and interim investment update memos as needed.

  • Assist with the preparation and finalization of Tax Equity portfolio annual review - portfolio-wide annual review and executive summary addressing investment portfolio quality and any relevant trends.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the post-financing lifecycle management of investments made by the Environmental Finance (Department) of Community Banking (Division). This includes data collection and analysis, understanding project risks and mitigation strategies, and assisting the team with overall portfolio evaluation and internal bank reporting.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years general banking or finance experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience. Minimum 1 year work leadership experience.

  • Proficient in use of pertinent word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, as well as pertinent business systems.

  • Strong business acumen and proven ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Ability to understand financial concepts and the potential impact of operations on investments and financial results.

  • Ability to define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and in writing with superiors, peers, partners and other stakeholders.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Sound experience showing fast response time, consistency, and success.

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.

  • Strong decision-making ability.

  • Ability to function in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $66,979.45 - $111,632.42 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
