Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Configuration Analyst to join our Flight Test Department in Baltimore, MD . This position is a key piece in supporting an industry leading Airworthiness Organization, and reports to the Airworthiness Manager. You will help create and maintain a Configuration Matrix that will pave the way in communicating changes and navigating regulatory requirements in support of new technology for the Warfighter effort.

What You'll Get to Do:

The Configuration Analyst must have a strong background in the aviation field and a strong comprehension of major modifications and repairs and how it affects approved configurations on each aircraft. They must also be able to understand both Military and Commercial (FAA) airworthiness regulations. Other roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyst may attend Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and any meetings required to maintain airworthiness associated with configuration management.

  • Shall act as a Configuration Control Board (CCB) shareholder and help prepare Aircraft Airworthiness Data Packages (AADP).

  • Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses.

  • Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.

  • Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.

  • Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.

  • Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

  • Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.

  • Keeping an updated list of configurations for Flight Test Aircraft.

  • Maintaining configuration SharePoint site and gathering all artifacts required to show airworthiness.

  • Providing data for Aircraft Airworthiness Data Package and review/sign before final approval.

  • Creating and submitting Data and Services Export Authorization (DESA) paperwork for all communication outside of the United States that are required to perform duties associated with foreign countries, adding new companies on an as needed basis to ensure compliance of export regulations, and renewing DSEA paperwork every three months.

  • Participating in PDRs, CDRs and Flight Readiness Reviews as configuration authority.

  • Acting as a Configuration Control Board (CCB) Shareholder.

  • Assisting in preparation of Change Request forms for consideration at the CCB.

  • Providing support for technical data calls, briefing materials, scheduling and team requirements.

  • Interacting with Government customers and working with engineering and logistics teams to manage configuration items.

  • Assisting in the Audit and Airworthiness process for FAA, AFRL, AFLCMC requirements.

  • Assisting with renewals of Airworthiness Certificates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or a Masters Degree with 1+ year of relevant experience (Note: an additional 4+ years of experience to be considered in lieu of a degree).

  • Experience following documented rules and guidelines to ensure technical content meets internal and customer requirements.

  • Competent computer skills including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office.

  • Experience with technical data and Configuration Change Request Processes.

  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with 5+ years’ relevant experience.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of engineering documentation (i.e. models, drawings, specifications, parts, change notices, manufacturing plans, and manufacturing procedures).

  • Competent computer skills including CSS, SharePoint.

  • Practice implementing and following configuration management and control principles.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Experience evaluating engineering changes for implementation.

Salary Range: $67,000.00 - $100,400.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
