All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. * *Primary Duties: * Oversees the maintenance and operation of one or more facilities or properties for a school or University. Develops maintenance policy and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Assist in the daily direction and oversight of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management. Manages and trains a staff of employees in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Ensures facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and that work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines. Oversee contractors engaged for facility renovation projects. * Recommends departmental policies and procedures for improving the quality of services provided and productivity. * Analyze internal processes and recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations, such as supply changes or the disposal of records. * Manages the programming, planning, design and construction for new construction, renovation, remodeling, and maintenance projects. * Facilitate regularly with partners and coordinate compliance with campus safety & security policies and protocols. Confirm proper facility usage, intervene on any concerns; escalate to campus partners (such as University Police, Fire Safety, and Environmental Health & Safety) as needed. * Manages school budgets for facilities and ensures operations are completed within the budgeted guideline. * Directs school's metrics by compiling and reviewing data and making necessary changes. Report to leadership the outcomes. * Implementation of the strategic plan and short - and long-term goals for department to achieve long-term University goals including preventive maintenance program. * Responsible for emergency response and coordination in critical situations. Must be attentive and creative in finding solution to these emergencies. * Manage the work of employees in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment including external vendors. Manage staff including training, scheduling, coordinating, and delegating work, monitoring, and evaluating performance to promote maximum staff member benefit and effectiveness as well as overall functional productivity. * Identify training needs and best practices to determine best learning activities and provide training to staff. Assist in development of a training strategy and programs for staff and leadership. * Analyze and evaluate the work force needs and capabilities and implement changes as needed. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor's degree in business or technical, such as engineering or architecture degree in a related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience:Six (6) years' experience in managing the operation of multiple buildings or complex, including administrative and financial responsibilities. Supervisory Experience:Two (2) years of direct supervision or management or projects and others. Certification/Licensure:N/A. Other:No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
