Johns Hopkins University Adjunct Double Bass Teacher in Baltimore, Maryland

Adjunct double bass teacher to teach students of all ages and levels (beginner to advanced) at the Peabody Preparatory, a division of the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.

DUTIES: Teach private lessons and possibly bass group classes, primarily on Saturdays at the main campus but may expand to include teaching at branch campuses in Towson or Howard County. Opportunity to teach students from the Tuned-In program. Training and mentoring on the curriculum of the Tuned-In program will be tailored to the candidate's experience. Adjunct faculty positions consist of a teaching load that does not exceed 9.5 hours per week.

LOCATION: The Peabody Preparatory shares space with the Peabody Conservatory in downtown Baltimore and offers string instruction at three satellite branches in the communities of Frederick, Howard County, and Towson, MD. The Preparatory is more than 100 years old and has approximately 2,000 students studying all instruments, dance, theory, early childhood music, orchestra, and more. We embrace the novice as well as the serious student aspiring to a career in music.

COMPENSATION: Dependent upon experience.

START DATE: August 2024

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or equivalent experience and training preferred. Documented successful teaching experience required. Awareness of the broad mission of the Preparatory, and of the Tuned-In program, enacting social change through music.
