EXECUTIVE SERVICE
( This position serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. )
The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The Fleet Administrator functions as a member of the senior advisory staff within the Operations Division of the MDTA. The position is responsible for the oversight of MDTA’s Fleet Equipment Management Division, Emergency Generator-Marine Maintenance Division, and eight heavy equipment maintenance shops.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Works with the Fleet Management team to annually assess fleet needs and conditions;
Oversees the budget, procurement process, inspection, configuration audits, delivery, and deployment for all rolling stock equipment;
Manages the fleet vehicle accident and repair contract;
Monitors and records monthly mileage logs, repairs, and accident data for fleet vehicles; and
Interacts with agency heavy equipment maintenance shops, Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisors, Chief Facility Maintenance Officers, and Facility Administrators for the repair and replacement of vehicles and equipment.
The position reports directly to the Director of Traffic Management and Technology. The current vacancy is located in Baltimore County, MD.

Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. **Two years of this experience must include the management and procurement of fleet vehicles.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Knowledge of Maryland procurement rules, regulations and COMAR
Experience reviewing and evaluating fleet bid specifications
Experience with capital and operating budget preparations

Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Licenses & Certifications
Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees must possess and maintain a Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland. Applicants must list the license number and date of expiration on the application.
