http://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/mdotmdThe State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Office of Information Technology is seeking to fill an executive service position as a Network Support Section Chief (IT Assistant Director II) in Baltimore City. This position is open to anyone who meets the preferred qualifications below.
Nature of Work : The main purpose of this position is to review, plan, organize, develop coordinate, supervise and manage Information Technology projects and staff within SHA. This position will synchronize projects between MDOT Headquarters, MDOT Transportation Business Units (TBU), vendors, contractors and SHA staff for coordination and implementation. The Network Support Section Chief is also responsible for the following: soliciting and prioritizing system development activities; performing technology research and planning; establishing and managing the short-range and long-range plan and budget to support the growth of information technology within SHA; planning, acquiring and implementing large-scale IT business systems; acquiring, developing and supporting web-based applications and the SHA website; planning, installing and supporting the local and wide area fiber, copper, and wireless networks including the CHART systems; providing technical guidance to the Desktop Support Section and to the IT liaisons; and ensuring IT disaster recovery plans for the infrastructure are current and complete. This office services a customer base of approximately 3,300 SHA employees, as well as providing management and direction to MDOT-wide information technology initiatives.

Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications :
Education : Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience : Six (6) years of management or supervisory experience in information technology in at least two of the following areas: planning, systems analysis, computer programming or operations.
Notes :
Applicants may substitute graduate education in computer science or in directly related fields on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.
Applicants may substitute additional management or supervisory experience as defined above at the rate of six months of experience for one year of education for the required college education.
U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
