POSITION SUMMARY:

​The Engineering Manager's main responsibility is to manage the Facility Engineering and Maintenance function for the Distribution Center (DC) such that employee health and safety, product safety and the protection of the environment are never compromised and that all engineering activities enhance product handling quality, site performance and the business objectives. Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic vision of the DC in areas of equipment reliability. The Engineering Manager is a key member of the DC Leadership team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management Responsibilities

  1. Define, propose and monitor the implementation of the department plans and objectives in accordance with the Engineering Policy, Key Principles and the Key Engineering Activities as outlined in the Nestlé Engineering Excellence (NEE) master document.

  2. Propose and implement work processes, procedures and technical resources related to Site Engineering.

  3. Lead and coordinate the Site Engineering team and maintain competencies, motivation and performance to achieve the teams mission and objectives.

  4. Propose and control the Site Engineering budget as well as the site's capital investment plans and related capital expenditures.

  5. Planning and managing all approved capital projects

  6. Propose and monitor Site Engineering in accordance with the key performance indicators.

  7. Demonstrate and promote the company's values within the Site Engineering team.

  8. Contributing toward the Strategic and Tactical Leadership of the site and Supply Chain DC function as a whole.

Functional Responsibilities

  1. The functional responsibilities for a Manager, Engineering are outlined within the NEE master document. The main responsibilities being to:

  2. Ensure that there exists within the engineering team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations. That all those in engineering are encouraged never to implement any change, whether directly instructed to, or under his/her own initiative, without first questioning its impact in relation to product safety/quality, people safety and the environment. No compromises should be tolerated.

  3. Liaise daily with Production and Quality Assurance to resolve technical issues and to ensure optimal operation.

  4. Ensure that all the team members are familiar with, and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  5. Ensure environmental compliance with Nestlé Environmental management System (NEMS).

  6. Nestlé Environmental Minimum Technical Requirements (NEMTR).

  7. Ensure compliance with Nestlé Operational Safety, Health and Risk Management Strategy.

  8. Ensure execution of maintenance is in accordance with the Nestlé Maintenance Strategy by using the Consequence Driven Maintenance philosophy.

Maintain and upkeep Asset Maintenance Management as Site Maintenance System:

  • Technical Stores Management.

  • Work Order Management and Labor Hour allocation.

  • Equipment Bill of Material (BOM).

  • Optimize Predictive Maintenance technologies (Condition Monitoring and inspections) to minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) to achieve industrial process and plant optimization.

Drive the implementation of Maintenance Best Practices:

  • Utilize Planned Downtime for Scheduled and Condition-Based Maintenance.

  • Initiate and coordinate the implementation of new processes/technologies with local, market, PTC, CTU and SBU engineering.

  • Safeguard 'Product Mastership' equipment related technical knowledge.

  • Maintain and develop functional expertise in technical operations (Maintenance, Projects, Industrial Services, Store) by providing training and development programs.

  • Execute and control Site Routine, Extra-ordinary Maintenance and Capital Investment Budgets.

  • Manage resources continuously to align with site objectives and business strategies, include outsourcing opportunities.

  • Ensure that all Nestlé's proprietary technology is protected by adopting a "careful" relationship with 3rd parties, particularly outsourcing partners.

Engineering Activities:

Asset Planning

  • Manage the site's engineering data in respect to the formulation of the Market Business Strategy (MBS) and that the correct decisions are made in respect to the site assets.

Project Management

  • Monitor the site's capital investments. Ensure the justification, request for approval and reporting are in line with the Guidelines for Capital Investment.

  • Ensure that projects are designed with a high degree of flexibility to better enable the operations to adjust to a changing environment keeping in mind safety and the environment.

Maintenance & Improvement (M&I)

  • Execute M&I in accordance with the Nestlé Maintenance Strategy using Consequence Driven Maintenance (CDM) as the multi-disciplined approach to proactively maintain/improve the fixed assets and Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) as the process to manage the asset lifecycle.

  • Adopt the Maintenance Excellence vision by striving for the M&I "Proactive Domain".

  • Ensure the team view M&I as an investment in asset reliability and overall plant performance.

Industrial Services

  • Ensure that the needs of the client are fully complied with.

  • That all utilities (air, water, steam etc.) that come, or may accidentally come, in direct contact with products are treated according to acceptance criteria for product and processes.

E&A-MES

  • Ensure that the electrical services, degree of automation and MES are in line with the business requirements.

Energy Management

  • Ensure that Nestlé Energy Management Tool (NEMT) is implemented and maintained.

  • Ensure that engineering drive the energy and environment reporting system.

Process & Packaging Optimisation

  • Initiate and coordinate the implementation of new processes / technologies with local, market, PTC, CTU and SBU Engineering.

  • Drive innovation / renovation within the site.

Outsourcing & Contracting

  • Manage all issues relating to engineering.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, or Process with demonstrated knowledge of automation and controls.

  • Minimum 5 - 7 years manager/supervisory experience managing engineering/maintenance function, preferably in Automated Warehouse/Factory

  • Supervisory/Management experience in previous assignment.

EXPERIENCE:

  • In-depth knowledge of automated warehousing equipment, controls, and systems:

  • Automated Storage and Retreival Systems (ASRS).

  • Robotic layer picking.

  • Auto guided vehicles.

  • Warehouse Management Systems.

  • Network and IT Infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering (Preferred).

  • Understanding of financial analysis and relevant business drivers:

  • Nestlé Standard Costing.

  • Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM).

  • CAPEX budgeting and preparation (CIAT).

  • Project Engineering/Management - Plant Design & Construction.

  • Industrial Services and Energy Management (NEMT).

  • 1-3 years TPM / LEAN continuous improvement process development.

  • AutoCAD view or Visio, CDM, AMM, ESAT, CIAT, NEMT, NEST etc.

SKILLS:

  • Strong technical and managerial skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • Analytical skills in problem solving.

  • Knowledgeable of and able to apply root cause problem solving and technical creativity to systemically resolve complex short term and long term issues and opportunities.

  • Ability to perform under pressure and in ambiguous situations.

  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills – ability to balance and prioritize several projects simultaneously.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills.

  • Ability to act in several roles depending upon the situation -facilitator, leader, executor, etc.

  • Ability to assert influence over events to achieve goals

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project

The approximate pay range for this position is $138,000 to $187,200. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
