Job Description: Certified Specialty Coffee Roasting Consultant and Trainer Position Title: Certified Specialty Coffee Roasting Consultant and Trainer Department: Operations Reports To: Operations Manager Location: Bakersfield, CA (with potential travel to various locations) Position Type: Part-Time/Contract Overview: California Coffee Enterprise is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Certified Specialty Coffee Roasting Consultant and Trainer. This role is critical in ensuring the highest quality and consistency of our specialty coffee offerings. The consultant will provide expert advice and training to our staff and partner farmers, focusing on the art and science of coffee roasting, from bean selection to final product. Responsibilities:

Consultation and Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of current coffee roasting processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide expert advice on bean selection, sourcing, and blending to enhance the quality of our specialty coffee offerings.
  • Recommend best practices for maintaining consistency and quality across all roasting operations.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for our roasting team and partner farmers on various aspects of coffee roasting, including:
    • Understanding coffee bean origins and their impact on flavor profiles.
    • Roasting techniques and profiles for different coffee varieties.
    • Equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Quality control and sensory evaluation.
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions and workshops to ensure practical understanding and application of roasting techniques.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and implement quality control protocols to ensure consistency and excellence in all roasted coffee products.
  • Perform regular quality checks and sensory evaluations of roasted coffee to maintain high standards.
  • Provide feedback and corrective actions to improve roasting outcomes.

Process Optimization:

  • Analyze roasting processes and workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency and quality enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the roasting team to implement process improvements and monitor their impact.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new roasting technologies, and methodologies to continuously refine our practices.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of roasting profiles, training sessions, and quality control activities.
  • Prepare and present reports on training outcomes, quality assessments, and process improvements to the Operations Manager.
