Job/Position DescriptionThis is a temporary long term position under the general direction of the Webmaster and performs highly advanced communications and web-related work to further DSHS agency goals. The position is responsible for the development and coordination of high-quality web content including, but not limited to, the DSHS public website, intranet, stand-alone websites, and promotional materials. Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Spanish is preferred, not required.Work involves writing, editing, organizing, and publishing web content in various formats. Web content coordination work involves researching, coordinating, organizing, writing, editing, and producing web content and communications materials using software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and various web publishing tools. Position has extensive latitude for the use of initiative and self-management. It will be filled by a competent, responsible, hardworking person who is passionate about public service and improving the health of individuals, communities, and the state of Texas. Essential Job Functions(55%)Works closely with management, and internal teams to develop web content for rapidly-changing and critical public health emergencies. Gathers requirements and plans, develops, and produces content to create functional websites. Ensures content complies with web accessibility rules, branding requirements, privacy and security policies, and any other agency, state, or federal website laws or requirements. May assign and/or oversee the work of program content contributors. (35%)Uses a major web content management system and tools such as Dreamweaver to publish web content to DSHS websites. Work involves basic hand coding of HTML/CSS to publish web content to DSHS websites. Sees projects through from concept to final product. (5%) Collaborates with and supports other Center for Consumer and External Affairs functions and activities including Media Relations, Government Affairs and Stakeholder Relations units as needed.Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or continuity of operations activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.(5%) Limited travel may be required.
