BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY Performs advanced (senior level) security enforcement and management work. This includes overseeing and managing a team of security officers, implementing security policies, creating staff schedules, inspecting equipment, documenting security incidents, responding to emergencies and ensuring the safety of people and property on the premises by maintaining security protocols. Performs associated administrative duties for all security-related functions to include preparing shift schedules, training, overseeing i ventory and maintenance of assigned equipment and uniforms, reviewing and approving time entries, and record maintenance. Trains, supervises, and oversees assigned security personnel. Reports to the Security Operations Manager and works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative, independent judgment, and critical thinking. WORK HOURS: Shift work and may include weekends ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides day-to-day supervision and direction to multiple shifts of security personnel responsible for guarding and patrolling property against loss or damage from theft, vandalism, accident, or trespass while maintaining order and protecting life. Responsible for ensuring all security officers maintain certifications in accordance with Department of Public Safety-Private Security Personnel (DPS-PSP) and the Texas Military Department (TMD) regulations. Communicates and coordinates security operations, to include all events associated with TMD. Ensures all security officers are certified/re-certified Security Officer (SO) Level III and/or SO Level IV in accordance with DPS-PSP standards. Develops, implements, and tracks the Camp Mabry security officer training program. Develops and maintains tracking of records for all training required by TMD, Cooperative Agreement 3 (CA 3), and Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau. Participates in all mandatory training on security duties and responsibilities. Conducts hiring process through CAPPS Recruit. Oversees, monitors, and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of installation. Ensures rules and regulations governing the access to and use of public facilities are enforced. Oversees and responds to alarms. Directs patrols of State and Federal buildings and grounds; watches for unauthorized persons, fires, and unusual occurrence and reports emergencies immediately upon discovery. May detain or direct detention of suspects in cases of unauthorized entry onto installation premises and work areas, malicious mischief, or other violations. Evaluates and makes recommendations for changes to security standard operating procedures to Garison Command. Tracks and conducts performance evaluations for all security officers. Oversees and monitors video surveillance systems and access control systems. May perform sensitive system management of personnel files directly associated with access control and video surveillance systems, including retrieval and preservation of evidentiary materials. Manages staffing, schedules and time keeping for assigned security officers using CAPPS. Maintains and updates security officer equipment and gear required for duty. Mediates disputes between TMD personnel and visitors using Inter-personal Communication (IPC) skills. Collects and reviews all daily logs of security functions for the day. Briefs Senior Shift Leaders on mission requirements ensuring operational information is disseminated appropriately. Reviews and subsequently approves or disapproves leave requests to ensure optimal staffing levels are on-hand to support mission requirements. Fosters and maintains effective working relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement entities. Responsible for all site-specific CAPPS requisition inputs and receiving invoices for payment to vendors. Reviews and reconciles vehicle usage, fuel usage and maintenance reports for all motorized vehicles under their charge.
