YOUR FUTURE TEAM As part of TCEQ Legal Services, you would support ensuring that commission decisions follow the law, and that rules we develop comply with statutory authority and are applied consistently. See details about what we do. This position is a member of our General Law Division. WHAT YOU WILL DO As a part of the divisions General Law team, our Legal Support Specialist II will play a key role in achieving TCEQs mission. You would use your skills and experience to: Provide administrative support for staff attorneys, senior attorneys, coordinators, supervisors, and investigators for the Office of Legal Services of the TCEQ. Prepare documents and correspondence for legal proceedings and for use in the office environment. Proofread, edit, formats and prepare documents in accordance with TCEQ accessibility guidelines and other requirements. Organize documents and correspondence for mailings and filings with governmental entities; files documents with governmental entities; mails, faxes, and hand-delivers documents; and transcribes audio proceedings. Maintain databases; tracks information; and compiles technical data for reports, correspondence, and legal documents. Obtain report from databases. Organize, assemble, and maintain cases, notebooks, files, and records. Develop, organize, and maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems. Scans and photocopies information. Perform special functions which may include scheduling meetings; maintaining calendars; reserving meeting facilities; answering phones including the OLS reception phone; coordinating travel arrangements and preparing agency travel forms; and logging pending and completed assignments. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One year as a Legal Secretary I at TCEQ. OR Graduation from an accredited high school, plus two years of full-time experience providing clerical or administrative support. One semester (15 semester hours) of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of the required experience. Completion of 300 clock hours of course work in the clerical field from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school may be substituted for each six months of the required experience. OR Graduation from an accredited high school, plus one year of full-time experience as a legal secretary. Completion of a legal secretarial curriculum from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school may be substituted for one year of the required experience. A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the minimum qualification requirements outlined above.
