The Sr. Vice President of Project Execution will be responsible for all aspects of constructing RWE’s rapidly growing portfolio of large scale solar, solar and battery storage power generation projects as well as stand-alone battery storage projects within RWE Clean Energy’s construction safety and quality standards, on-time and on-budget to satisfy the project’s investment case. As a core member of RWECE’s Senior Leadership Team, the SVP of Project Execution will be responsible for leading Generate Impact by Creating Value at Scale, Excelling at Execution, Partnering to Grow, and Teaming to Solve
Responsibilities :
Creating value at scale: Being a strategic leader responsible for driving long term strategies and operational improvement plans to scale RWE Clean Energy to building 4.5GW+ of projects per year at industry leading returns
Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Procurement teams on long term strategies to scale the business and gain a competitive edge
Lead strategic initiatives to reduce levelized cost of energy (LCOE), accelerate schedules, and enhance delivery certainty / predictability
Collaborate with Development, Commercial, and Executive teams to provide key input into individual project investment decisions as well as M&A opportunities
Develop RWE Clean Energy’s execution strategy, including what we do, how we partner, and driving what differentiates us and creates a competitive advantage
Excelling at execution: Driving operational excellence to achieve cost, schedule, safety and quality goals across the portfolio of construction projects
Lead a team of regional and technology focused VPs in effective execution of solar, wind, and storage projects. Ensuring safety, quality, and compliance standards are maintained
Lead EPC relationships, including claims resolution with the support of Legal
Coordinate/manage equipment contracts and timing of deliveries (RWE supplied)
Manage Interconnection at the construction phase. Lead coordination with power grid operators and transmission system owners.
Coordinate plant final commissioning, and transition of project accountability to the Operations and Asset Management Team
Provide input into projects in the development phase in support of investment decisions, M&A opportunity evaluation, and ensuring construction readiness
Drive a continuous improvement and innovation focused culture that relentlessly pursues improvement in individual and organizational performance
Partnering to Grow: Building and managing long-term external partnerships based on trust, transparency, and collaboration
Establish and manage industry leading partnerships with our EPCs, sub-contractors, and suppliers
Drive collaboration to continuously seek win-win opportunities that create value for both RWE Clean Energy and our partners
Work closely with Development and Procurement organizations to strategically schedule projects and source equipment to support cost efficiency and flawless execution
Build industry relationships with utilities, developers, and EPCs that support collaboration and effective teaming
Team to Solve: Lead a culture of accountability and empowerment to develop high performing teams that leverage the organizations collective creativity and resourcefulness to find solutions and seize opportunities
Foster a collaborative team environment across a national project execution team – sharing lessons learned, codifying best practices, and working together to solve problems and capture opportunities
Lead individual and team development; identifying high performing individuals, leading career development including skill building and leadership training, establishing effective team environment that foster diversity and collective strength
Develop talent strategies that support growth and capability enhancement, including succession and advancement planning, recruiting, and training to attract, develop, and retain a high performing project execution organization
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar required
Master’s in Business Administration, Engineering degree a plus
15+ years’ experience in power generation and/or renewable energy industry
Repeatable construction experience outside of power generation / renewable to be considered

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
