TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Software Asset Manager (Telework) in Austin, Texas

WHO YOU ARE: Seeking a dedicated IT Software Asset Manager to provide technical support with software asset record management. The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving, analytical skills, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Should be proactive and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks; and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner. Collaborates with other IT teams as well as business customers to accomplish work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Software Asset Manager (SAM) is selected by and accountable to the Desktop Operations Manager with the approval of the IT Customer Services Director, Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Officer. Performs complex to highly complex (senior-level) systems administration work. Work involves maintaining to coordinating the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of systems. Installs and upgrades computer components and system software. May provide guidance or supervise the work of others. Works under general to limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Maintains a reliable, predictable work schedule. May be called upon to work outside of normal business hours to sustain operations or complete urgent assignments.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Provide software asset management support for software licenses during acquisition, management, optimization, and retirement lifecycle phases. -Assist with business analysis and decision-making processes to establish and maintain effective license positions for on-prem, hybrid, and SaaS software applications. -Execute processes to manage risk, maintain compliance, and maintain the asset management program. -Assist with internal and external software audits to ensure both compliance and optimization. -Understand and practice key software asset management concepts. -Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures. -Participate in maintaining and providing input to departmental dashboards. -Prepare detailed analyses and reports as assigned. -Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that govern TWC IT. -Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively. -Promote an image of IT excellence. -Perform other duties as assigned to maintain IT operations.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Bachelors degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field plus one year of relevant work experience; or five years relevant work experience. -Two years experience developing and analyzing software license contracts and management strategies for software publishers. -Experience supporting software discovery, asset reconciliation, internal and external audits, and license optimization activities. -Knowledge of SAM tools and technology including SNOW, and ServiceNow or equivalent enterprise software asset management tools. -Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, communicate clearly and communicate effectively with technical colleagues and non-technical customers -Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. -Knowledge of industry trends, standards, best practices and tools. -Experience with Data Analysis and Data Visualization. -Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Office 365 applications. -Certification in IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM). -Certification in IT Infrastructure Library v4 (ITILv4).

YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Systems Administrator III: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, management informationsystems or a related field plus one year of experience in systemsadministration work. -Systems Administrator IV: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university withmajor coursework in computer science, management informationsystems or a related field plus two years of experience in systemsadministration work. -Both Levels: Education and experience may be substituted for one another.
