Amazon Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, OpsTech IT in Austin, Texas

OpsTech IT organization, with an unparalleled scope, is part of the Amazon’s WW Operations & Robotics team. We design, deploy and support IT infrastructure, devices and Services across Amazon’s Global Fulfillment Centers, Transportation (Middle Mile, Last Mile & Logistics), and Specialty Customer Solutions (Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, Lockers, Pantry, Campus, and Prime Air). Our customers range from Amazon lockers to Amazon’s Air Hubs.

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to build and own our reporting, metrics creation, KPI definition and cross-functional mechanisms to fuel our success. As a key team member on the team, you will partner across Product Management, SDEs, Program Management, and Finance to drive clarity among a broad set of key stakeholders and partners across OTIE and partner organizations. This role provides a unique opportunity to flex traditional BI skills, but also stretch into product, program, and finance elements. Your work will be foundational--in this role, you will work on key initiatives and partner with business stakeholders to drive actionable findings and recommendations to drive key business outcomes for our business. The visibility that your work provides will enable us to quickly provide value to both end customers and our vendor partners. To succeed in this role you must thrive in ambiguity, enjoy cross-functional collaboration, be excited about building and forming and have strong communication skills.

Our team is data-obsessed and sees experiment delivery as successes. We have a lot of learning to do and big goals to deliver, and we need your help to accelerate our learning curve. We are frugal and scrappy, leveraging existing tech where sufficient and focusing our resources on that which is highest-value. We will have strong bias for action, refuse to accept constraints internal or external, and need to move fast to solve problems for our customers; but we must do so while maintaining the highest standards to best serve our customers. Our team values diversity of thought, symmetry of information, and inclusion, and is looking to build a team of strong Amazonians and great humans.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create clarity from disparate information sources, learning and experimenting.

  • Drive business analyses and insights. Have a strong financial foundation to build and deliver actionable insights for execution and measurement of business performance.

  • Great problem-solving skills. You have strong leadership qualities, great judgment, clear communication skills, and a track record of delivering useful, adopted and actionable solutions. You can drive cross-functional alignment though strong communication and development and ownership of reporting mechanisms and structures.

As one of the first hires on the team, you will be instrumental in setting the team culture, quality bar, best practices, and norms. A sense of humor is always a bonus.
