DIVISION LEGAL POSITION TYPE - This is a hybrid position and is eligible for telecommuting up to four (4) days a week The Legal Division performs complex legal work related to electric, telecommunications, and water and sewer utility regulation including the practice of administrative law, representing the public interest in contested cases, enforcement actions related to market participant malfeasance as well as providing legal and policy advice to agency staff and the Commissioners. The division is seeking an Attorney who has a desire to work in the utility regulatory industry, with a strong initiative, and would like to expand their knowledge, skills and experience performing routine to moderately complex legal work for the Legal Division related to electric, telecommunications, and water and sewer utility regulation. Primary duties involve the practice of administrative law, including representing the Commission staff in contested cases at the Commission and the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH). SALARY RANGE Salary commensurate with Qualifications Attorney I Attorney II Starting Salary \$73,500.00 \$84,000.00 Max Salary \$85,000.00 \$95,000.00 Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the following required minimum qualifications: Attorney I Graduation from an accredited law school with LLB or JD degree; licensed with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas. Attorney II Graduation from an accredited law school with LLB or JD degree; licensed with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas; and a minimum of two (2) years of legal work experience as a licensed attorney.Applicants awaiting their July Texas Bar Exam results are eligible to apply. Preferred Qualifications: Experience relating to electric, telecommunications, or water and sewer utilities. Litigation or administrative law experience as a licensed attorney.
