Easterseals Lonestar, a leading nonprofit providing services to children and adults with disabilities, and Vaughn House (https://www.easterseals.com/centraltx/our-programs/adult-services/vaughn-house.html) , a nonprofit helping adults who are deaf and have intellectual and developmental disabilities, had an agreement to merge which went into effect on January 1, 2015.

Position Summary:
The Day Habilitation (Day Hab) Program Specialist works at Vaughn House (https://www.easterseals.com/centraltx/our-programs/adult-services/vaughn-house.html) , supports individuals with IDD and who are Deaf, and Hard of hearing attending Day Programming in participating in social, recreational, and independent living activities designed to promote skills and abilities associated with activities of daily living, building friendships, and actively participating in community-based activities. The specialist will monitor and assist individuals with daily living skills, medicine, personal hygiene, and social skills.

Essential Job Functions:
Provide direct support to Day Hab clients in their participation in daily activities, including community-based outings, activities of daily living and social and recreational activities
Ensure all Day Hab programming, services and activities support the individual goals and behavior plans of each Day Hab client. Monitor and respond accordingly to clients exhibiting unusual aggressive and/or high-risk behavior, follow all reporting guidelines related to incidents.
Assist the Program Manager at the Day Hab with scheduling, assigning daily tasks and responsibilities, planning group activities, and leading community -based outings and activities.
Document all required achievements, incidents, and other activities as required by Easterseals Lonestar.
Ensure compliance with required training, not limited to CPR/First Aid, safety, infectious disease, and de-escalation techniques.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) required
Current and Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation
