Veralto Field Service Technician - USP Technologies in Austin, Texas

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and installation of chemical storage and transfer equipment and assist in delivering technical solutions focused on water treatment (municipal and industrial groundwater, wastewater, and drinking water). In a company-provided vehicle, you will drive to various sites and deploy your mechanical and instrumentation knowledge to install, repair, service, and support USP equipment. Equipment could include diaphragm pumps, centrifugal pumps, flow/level/pressure sensors, interlocks, valves, pipes, wired connections, and storage tanks.

This is a growing region with customers located within about a 2-6 hour driving radius and estimated 80% overnight stays. In addition, this role will travel outside of the immediate region to cover and support other technicians.

Most of the work is done Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On special occasions, there may be a need that this role requires support on an evening or weekend.

Training will occur over the first 90 days of employment and will include trips to our customer sites. The majority of training will occur on the job working with expert service technicians and sales team members on ride-a-longs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical equipment maintenance and service support to deployed USP equipment including mechanical, electrical, and controls maintenance and troubleshooting chemical storage and feed equipment.

  • Maintain close working relationships with USP Commercial (account management) and customers to prioritize corrective actions.

  • Plans and executes equipment service maintenance plan for assigned accounts.

  • Documents all field service activities.

  • Collaborates with Engineering team in review of standard equipment maintenance plans and equipment design.

  • Cross-function support to USP Program Team (account management) and USP Project Team (new equipment deployment).

  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Must be able to manage multiple service priorities with minimal supervision. This role requires a high level of autonomy and self-direction.

  • Working knowledge of municipal and industrial water treatment industries is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of field level EHS requirements is preferred.

  • Familiarity with basic plumbing installation (PVC, stainless steel tubing, bending, etc.) is preferred.

  • Strong fluid transfer mechanical aptitude is required (pumps, plumbing, instrumentation).

  • Fluid transfer equipment technical maintenance training is required (formal or on-the-job) – at USP we utilize peristaltic & diaphragm pumps.

  • Driver's license, clean driving record and ability to travel by air required

  • Familiarity and understanding of electrical connections and troubleshooting required (basic 4-20 signals, 120v power).

  • Operational knowledge of common industrial support equipment (forklift, man-lift, telehandler, etc.)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors of Science in Engineering Technology or Applied Science preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in a field equipment maintenance support role is preferred, 3 years is required.

  • 2-5 years of experience in the field of water treatment or similar process industries preferred.

  • Prior experience and knowledge of safe chemical handling required.

  • Direct experience with industrial P-to-P interfacing, instrumentation, pumps, liquid storage, and delivery systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Constantly required to walk, stand, climb (includes stairs), balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell.

  • Routinely required to sit in an office environment for admin, meetings, and travel.

  • Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards.

  • Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Up to 75% travel to off-site plant, customers, or supplier sites. Travel M-F typical. Position requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  • Required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for chemical deliveries which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, chemical suit, fall protection, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.

  • Occasionally in extreme heat conditions

  • Required to use ear plugs for hearing protection.

  • Both Indoor and outdoor sites may have high noise levels

  • Outdoor site can be located at a process area.

  • Use of hazardous chemicals is routine.

  • Trust and respect for customers, vendors, and USP associates

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus / Incentive Pay.
