Seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to perform highly complex (senior-level) financial and accounting work in the Financial Reporting Section. Work involves coordinating accounting and related activities to ensure timely and accurate reconciliations, preparation of financial analyses and reports, establishing and maintaining accounting procedures and controls, and assisting in preparation of the ERS Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Works under limited supervision of the Financial Reporting Supervisor with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversees and/or prepares, processes, and audits general accounting journal entries into ERS financial systems. Coordinates and communicates with State Agencies regarding Retirement/Pension and Insurance accounting discrepancies and corrections. Monitors and reconciles pension and benefits contributions. Monitors and reconciles general ledger accounts for State Retirement/Pension and Insurance funds. Assists in the preparation of the agency's Financial Statements, including fiscal year-end tasks. Assists in preparation of monthly financial reports. Assists with special projects, research requests, and ad-hoc reporting needs from internal and external sources. Serves as a back-up for key functions of the team. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Creates and updates standard operating procedures for the Financial Reporting Section. Assists in the compilation and preparation of information for Legislative Budget Board Reporting, GASB Reporting, and Fiscal Certifications. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Qualifications: Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, economics, statistics or similarly related. Experience in accounting, financial analysis, or other related experience, in excess of the required two years, may be substituted for college on a year-for-year basis. Two (2) years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or other related experience. Work related experience must include creating general ledger entries and generating financial reports (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications: Experience maintaining an accounting system (e.g., chart of accounts, profiles, batch jobs, report development). Experience with GASB/FASB implementation and compliance. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials. Accounting experience with a government entity.
