TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Editor (Remote) in Austin, Texas

WHO WE ARE: The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking an Editor II to join the Workforce Editing Department. This job is a 100% percent remote position that requires a secure dedicated workspace with reliable access to broadband internet service, as well as the ability to maintain a reliable and consistent work schedule and be available for daily meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Editor II performs advanced (senior level) editorial work. Work involves revising content for readability and preparing documents for final publication on the website and/or for Commission approval. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May train others in the department.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Perform advanced editorial work on (copy edits/content edits) complex policy documents. -Proofread edited documents for consistency in style, grammar, usage, and format and corrects mistakes in punctuation, typos and transpositions, and misspellings. -Interact with and provides consultative and technical writing/editing services to workforce program staff. -Track multiple and often competing high-priority projects. -Handle public documents efficiently, timely, and effectively and assists with and performs related duties as assigned. Ensures timely return of documents. -Ability to follow complex processes and procedures. -Prepares documents to ensure web-publication readiness and updates website as needed. -Review, edit, and rewrite text to improve readability. -Detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, style, and formatting. -Fact-check using standard sources. -Perform final edit and proofreading of documents to ensure proper content and format consistency. -Follow complex procedures to manage projects through the review-and-approval process. -Communicate effectively, appropriately, and professionally. -Prioritize workload and sets deadlines. -Provide guidance and assistance to staff by recommending content and format. -Perform other duties as needed

YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with courses in journalism, communications, English or a related field plus one year of full-time experience in editorial work. -One year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted foreach year (30 semester hours) of education.
