We are looking for a Director, Procurement - O&M Strategy for the strategic side of procurement that will lead a team of professionals to manage long-term contracts and establish support to the Asset Management and Operations team to drive availability and thereby maintain revenues across all sites in North America.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with organizational goals and objectives
Build and manage a strong team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
Streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency within the procurement function with a Continuous improvement mindset
Build and develop a “High-performance team” to deliver the operational goals, while constantly working on succession planning and helping them hone their skillset
Develop strong and effective internal relationships with all levels of the business to ensure that business requirements are reflected within contractual documentation
Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure that their performance consistently meets, and at times exceeds, business expectations
Drive and support negotiations for key contracts, while optimizing the supply base
Track and ensure achievement of forecasted value and savings targets including productivity plans with the team and with suppliers
Support the team with personal development and training
Set the team’s objectives & manage performance
Reporting to VP Procurement - OPNS
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with a preference for Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, or Business Management, Master’s Degree Preferred
Minimum experience of 8 years, working experience in construction, energy, chemical, or other industry with large, capital investment projects, with a focus on procurement or contract management
People management experience desirable
Significant experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management is essential. This often includes several years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing roles
Experience in a leadership or managerial capacity is typically required, as Purchasing Directors are responsible for managing teams and making strategic decisions
Strong negotiation skills are crucial to securing favorable terms and pricing from suppliers and contract management experience
Ability to analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities to make informed purchasing decisions
Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems used for purchasing and inventory management Ability to lead and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
Experience in applying efficient procurement processes, structures, and analytical tools
Experience of liaising with senior management within critical departments & building good relationships
Highly developed analytical and communication skills, combined with a structured work style and a pragmatic hands-on approach
Understanding of financial principles and cost management to optimize purchasing strategies and control expenses
Strong ethical standards and integrity are crucial, as Purchasing Directors often handle sensitive financial transactions and vendor relationships
Sound knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP. Ability to learn new systems and tools rapidly
Readiness to travel both nationally and internationally
