UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Director of Career Engagement in Austin, Texas

The Director of COE Career Engagement will lead the following strategic areas:Management, Operational Oversight and Collaboration: The Director will report to the associate dean of student success, community engagement, and administration and will manage the COE Career Engagement team. The director will serve as chief point of contact for department chairs and faculty area leads on career-related issues for all COE students and will work closely with the COE assistant dean of student affairs and the academic advising team on career-related matters. The director will serve as chief liaison with Texas Career Engagement Office, including participation on appropriate university-wide committees and task forces. The director will plan and manage career engagement budget and assets, ensuring that resources are used effectively and based on proper College and university priorities, and will collaborate with COE Marketing and Communications, COE Development team, and other college units to amplify goals and visibility of COE Career Engagement efforts.Executive Leadership: Build a strong and trusted career services team to serve all COE students. Serve on the Colleges Leadership Team. Serve on the Colleges Advancement Team alongside the Chief Development Officer, Director of Strategy and External Relations, Director of Marketing and Communications, and other key leaders to advise on reputational and advancement matters and integrate external-facing efforts with employers and alumni. Represent the College of Education within the UT Austin career ecosystem and in national, regional and other associations.Employer Relations: Create and implement employer engagement strategies to cultivate and maintain cross-industry relationships with employers that align with COE student career interests and future employment trends, and whose opportunities meet our university standards for quality and impact. Host multiple annual career fairs and other employer-related events. Cultivate new opportunities for internships and career apprenticeships for COE students, which may include travel.Coaching: Create, lead, supervise and mentor a team of career coaches and coordinator who are professionally prepared and qualified to provide high-quality career and professional development. Maintain compliance with all related federal, state, institutional, UT System and NACE regulations, guidelines, and best practices, and ensure staff do likewise. Provide College leadership within the career development space. Lead discussions on innovation and trends to help the College prepare for and change with advancements in fields of interest to College of Education majors.Career Readiness: Integrate career competencies into the College of Education student experience and foster a College culture that uses the core competencies to articulate the strengths of various College of Education majors and degrees (e.g., education, kinesiology and health education). Develop tailored programming and resources for college-specific career needs. Partner with department chairs and faculty leaders in the College to promote career curriculum integration and career development awareness in the classroom. Coordinate career activities and services with all COE sponsored student organizations. Educate students, partners, families and others on the value of career education and preparation for post-graduation success.Data and Assessment: Partner with the College of Education assessment team to develop a strategic plan to assess and report on the impact of career development programming in the College of Education on student learning; career decision making and management; student engagement; experiential learning; post-graduation success; and upward mobility. Lead and collaborate with Texas Career Engagement on College of Education first-destination surveys, data collection software and annual outcomes reporting.Experiential Learning and Alumni Engagement: Provide strategic leadership to devel p opportunities, programs and resources for curricular and co-curricular-integrated experiential learning for undergraduate and graduate Education majors (e.g., internships, apprenticeships, etc.). Align COE experiential learning strategies with the university strategic plan as well as with existing career-oriented efforts (e.g., teacher placements). Develop and maintain relationships with alumni and create opportunities for students to network with alumni for career and professional development in individual, group and event settings. Coordinate with COE Development team and COE Student Affairs team on alumni engagement efforts across the college.
