TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Data Analyst (Remote) in Austin, Texas

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Texas Workforce Commission is looking for an experienced Data Analyst I to work on agency wide customer experience data projects for executive leadership. The Data Analyst I will need to learn quickly, value public service, and pursue analytical work to unlock the power of data to improve TWC's services for Texas employers, individuals, families, and communities.

In brief, the Data Analyst I will gather and analyze customer data, using standard statistical tools and methods, to help agency leadership understand and improve our customer service operations. Working with others on the team, youll prepare concise technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternative approaches, and make recommendations for improvement based on your analysis. You will participate in the design and build of data connections between existing databases and customer centered tools.

More specifically, you will:

Consults with internal and external customers to identify user needs.

Compiles and queries data.

Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.

Interprets results to identify significant differences in data.

Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.

Assists in developing methods to mitigating data issues and deploys those methods to correct issues.

Assists in preparing technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions.

Assists in identifying and interpreting data patterns and trends and assessing data quality.

May assist with establishing and maintaining standard work procedures governing the appropriate use of data.

Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:

Knowledge of statistics and analyzing data sets.

Experience in running queries, report writing, and presenting findings.

Experience in record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data.

Ability to conduct data searches; and evaluate and translate large amounts of data.

Skill in the use of computers and applicable software.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to analyze various issues; to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.

Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to devise solutions to problems; to prepare concise reports; to develop and evaluate policies and procedures.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals.

Skill in planning, organizing, and coordinating work to effectively meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines; in handling multiple tasks simultaneously and in managing priorities and demands.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is preferred.
