The Crane Manager will provide support to Black & Veatch's Crane Manager regarding the management of company owned assets including mobile cranes, rigging, hardware and devices. The Crane Manager shall be competent to fill the role of Qualified Person to successfully plan, procure and execute critical lifting procedures that support Black & Veatch construction within the United States and internationally. Candidates must have experience hoisting in commercial/industrial construction. Construction management and contract administration training and qualification required.
Key Responsibilities
Must be knowledgeable and remain up to date on all Federal, State, and Local agencies’ regulations regarding lifting and hoisting activities including, but not limited, to OSHA and ANSI regulations.Determine, research, and facilitate the required certifications and training of employees performing hoisting activities. This includes producing, collecting, and maintaining records when appropriate.Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive Policy that governs all company lifting and hoisting activities. This policy shall be focused on employee safety and take into consideration all phases of lifting equipment use including, but not limited to, equipment maintenance, transportation, mobilization/demobilization, daily use, and staging.Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive lift planning process for both critical and general lifts.Take the lead on the development of critical lift plans, and coordinates with third-party crane vendors, as necessary.Supports the EHH&S Director and Safety mangers to conduct periodic audits to monitor the effectiveness of the lifting and hoisting program and determine areas for improvement when available.Supports the EHH&S Director and Safety mangers to evaluate root cause of hoisting related incidents and develop corrective actions.Through the appropriate channels, review and provide input related to third-party vendor vetting, contract terms and conditions, rental rates, etc.Work with projects during all phases including, but not limited to, planning, mobilization, construction, demobilization, and post construction to ensure the safest, most efficient, and cost-effective methods are being utilized and that B&V is getting the maximum appropriate billing for it’s services.Work with all departments to identify potential improvements to the Lifting and Hoisting Department. These improvements may be economical as well as safety related and may come in the form of new or additional personnel, equipment, or process/procedures.Qualified in the proper use, maintenance, and inspection of applicable rigging tackle.Should be familiar with lifting and hoisting equipment with B&V operations. This includes evaluation of performance, reliability, and cost effectiveness using all platforms available (I.E. Telematics, Asset Management Platform, etc.)Provide recommendations and participate in the decision making with respect to the retirement and/or replacement of existing assets as well as the potential purchase of new or additional assets as they are being considered.Drafting AFE documents for the purchase of cranes and rigging assets.Monitor the employees on the team to ensure that periodic training and or guidance is available to maintain constant development and improvement within the department.*Ability to travel on short notice. * Related duties as assigned.

Construction Management or Engineering degree.

Minimum Qualifications
8+ years experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on equivalent projects. Valid Driver's License. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
OSHA 10 certification.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Physical Demands:
Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
See and hear naturally or with correction.
Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
Requires repetitive movement.
May require work above 5 feet in height.
Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
Work around hazardous equipment.
