About The Division The Human Resources Division supports the agencys strategic direction by assisting management in meeting staffing needs and managing people. This includes recruiting and hiring staff; on-boarding new hires; coordinating benefits; training and developing the workforce on HR topics; creating and implementing employee engagement initiatives; and facilitating separation. Human Resources professionals are consultants and business partners; they advise managers and employees on workforce issues and help the agency achieve its business goals. General description Join the Human Resources as a Workplace Investigator! Work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment. Provides coaching, guidance, and investigation services to managers and employees related to employee complaints, allegations of mistreatment, and policy violations and ensures compliance with agency policy, state and federal laws and regulations relative to equal employment opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA). The workplace investigator will lead investigations from start to finish, including capturing intake information, conducting interviews, gathering, and analyzing evidence, documenting findings, and communicating findings and/or recommendations to the appropriate parties. The candidate must have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in a highly active environment with ever-changing circumstances. Work Hours Agency standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours. Hours are subject to change based upon business need or division determination. This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree. Quantifiable years of experience in performing complex human resources functions involving employee relations, employee dispute resolution, and/or performance management. Preferred Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in human resources management, business, psychology, or public administration or related field. Employment and HR-related laws, including Title VII. Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and Americans with Disability Amendments Act (ADAA) case management and compliance. Case management of FMLA, Workers compensation, special leave, and processing employee benefits. Project Management methodologies. Reviewing, leading, advising on, and resolving sensitive employee concerns and investigations. Designing and conducting employee relations training for managers and leaders. Substitutions One (1) additional year of experience performing complex human resources functions involving employee relations, employee dispute resolution and/or performance management may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years). Licenses and Certifications Preferred: Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and/or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP. In this role you will Serves as an agency Dispute Resolution Officer. o Investigates complaints, allegations of mistreatment involving discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, or other potential discriminatory practices and/or policy violations. o Conduct investigative interviews of the complainant, respondent, witnesses, and other relevant parties to ensure a thorough, fair, and timely resolution. o Gather facts and review evidence from all sources to establish the extent and nature of the allegation. May review documents, reports, time and leave summary, employment history, and any other relevant data sources connected to the investigation. o Prepares a written investigation summary outlining the overview of the complaint, a summary of fact-finding, and recommended resolution for HR management and Legal Counsel review. o Works cooperatively between leadership, employee, and Legal Counsel, making recommendations for resolution, including corrective action. o Facilitates the timely resolution of complaints, grievances, and disputes brought by employees and management concerning the work environment; provides coaching and guidance to resolve employee disputes as needed. o Assist with the investigation and resolution of other workplace concerns to determine the appropriate approach and to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees. o Monitor and implement corrective action plans to enhance controls and processes. o Works closely with legal, management, and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Develop and optimize investigation standard operating procedures to ensure transparency, objectivity, and consistency throughout the investigative process. Proactively identify trends and themes to develop strategies that will mitigate risks. Interprets rules and regulations in order to counsel agency personnel; and ensures compliance with agency policy and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations.
