TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Collections Program Assistant (Occasional Telework) in Austin, Texas

This position is onsite in our Austin office and will work with our Collections and Civil Actions Department, but once training has been conducted, some work may be done remotely (telework), based on the evaluation from the unit supervisor and workflow. Due to the sensitive nature of information with which the person selected for this position will be working, an additional federal background check will be required before an official offer of employment can be made.

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHO YOU ARE: We are looking for someone with a good recordkeeping and data entry background who is comfortable with working in a team environment and assisting others. Its a plus if you are familiar with purchasing processes and able to work with a variety of databases and legal documents. You are comfortable with a constantly changing workload, and able to keep your tasks organized.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Collections Program Assistant (Administrative Assistant III) performs complex (journey-level) administrative support work. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems and performing internal administrative support work. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Assist with lien and assessment packet preparation, document association and mailing. -Issue collection notices, initiates vendor holds through the State Comptroller and providing contact information to debtors on the origin of their debt. -Respond to telephone calls, electronic mail, and letters from internal and external customers. -Submit purchase orders using our web-based purchasing system. -Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus two years of full-time experience that provided knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices and procedures, or clerical administration and business management practices, such as preparation, maintenance, and control of forms, records and reports. -Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for six months of experience.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Personal computer skills, including skills in Adobe Pro, MS Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel or their equivalent. -Ability to work with attention to detail. -Good organizational skills in order to keep up with a changing list of priorities.
