TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Auditor (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

The Contract Oversight and Support Department in the Division of Fraud Deterrence and Compliance Monitoring (FDCM) is hiring for an Auditor I. This position is based in Austin on the north lawn of the Texas State Capitol and is required to work in the downtown Austin office up to two days a week. This position is hybrid (teleworking/onsite). For this position, the selected candidate must live in Austin or surrounding areas due to the in-office requirement.

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHO YOU ARE: A self-motivated individual who possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. A candidate well versed in auditing and monitoring practices, possessing the ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, and a commitment to upholding strong professional standard and ethics.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Auditor I performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) auditing work. Work involves examining, investigating, and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices to ensure legal compliance with state statutes and internal regulations; and conducting audits for program economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Plans for and participates in assigned monitoring reviews. -Gathers, tracks, assesses, and files monitoring-related data and information. -Utilizes Agency systems to obtain relevant contractor and case information and complete monitoring-related data entry. -Develops draft monitoring reports and correspondence under the direction of a lead monitor. -Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, economics or a related field -OR- -Four years of full-time experience in accounting, program financial performance or IT auditing, or in management information systems analysis, business process analysis, contract monitoring, or in positions which provided extensive knowledge of agency budgetary controls, or administrative procedures and related state and federal regulatory laws may substitute for education. -A license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Texas will satisfy the minimum requirements. -A certificate to practice as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) will satisfy the minimum requirements.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Excellent communication skills -Experience in auditing, contract monitoring, or compliance monitoring. -Quality control or project management experience. -Proficiency in composing clear and concise audit reports, gathering and analyzing accurate and relevant audit information, and evaluating documents for accuracy and legal conformance. -Experience with identifying areas of needed change and making recommendations to improve processes and internal controls. -Certified Texas Contract Manager to assist with Contract Oversight and Support departments work and mission.
